Proverbs 12:26 NLT

The godly give good advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray.

Getting good advice

Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. He finally succeeded after 1,000 failed attempts. What if he stopped after failure 999 and what if you were the next one to try? Would you want to know the 999 ways that didn’t work? Or would you repeat his 999 mistakes looking for your own success?

The point is this: Those of us who have made miserable mistakes can still have valuable things to teach. You can learn from both successful people and people who fail. Be smart and use both the failures and successes of others to your own advantage.

You come from long lines of awesome and imperfect people. Do you see your advantage? We are the very ones who can best tell you the 999 ways not to do things and sometimes that one way to succeed. Don’t be foolish and disregard loving and honest advice.
