Charity

This page is for my Grandchildren alone.

It is for their education.

Go Away!

You can read the other pages.

Just not this one

I've asked you kindly not to read - unless you're one of my top 5 draft picks... 5 oldest grandchildren.

You, the fabulous five, can talk about it to me and to each other but no one else!

Oh yeah, there's homework below

Why is it so private Peepaw?

Matthew 6:2-4 NLT

When you give to someone in need, don't do as the hypocrites do-blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get. [3] But when you give to someone in need, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. [4] Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

That's why

Did you know our family has a charitable fund?

What does DDCF do?

The Duckett-Davis Charitable Fund (DDCF) shares faith in Christ by providing water (and sometimes Bibles) for the poorest of the poor in our world.

Why Water?

As of December 1, 2020, there have been about 1.4 million total deaths due to Coronavirus. With good reason, the world is in a total uproar about the disease and has searched desperately for a cure. No doubt, this is a terrible thing.

But did you know that 2,195 children die from diarrhea EVERY DAY! That means 801,000 children die from diarrhea (caused by dirty drinking water) this year and every year. See the CDC information. The numbers are staggering so you and I are going to do something to help.

Why Bible translations?

While the Bible is easily available in most languages, there are many smaller groups that don't have a Bible in their language.

Here are some of the groups we help fund

How do you think the money should be used? The homework part.

Here's your chance to do your part. Every year, between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we make a donation to the fund or funds we choose. This year, I'm inviting you five oldest grandchildren to take part. God gave us this money and the responsibility to use it wisely.

Choose a charity from the ones linked above or research your own. Whichever one you choose, DDCF will donate $500 to that one. You each get to donate your own $500. It must match the purpose listed above!

Think seriously about this one. It's an important responsibility and one that I hope you will practice the rest of your lives. Loving others with the time, abilities, and money God gave us are important ways we will serve God. Here are two websites to investigate charities. Charity Navigator and Guide Star.

But wait, couldn't we have better Christmas gifts if we didn't give all that money away? Absolutely not! Trust me, giving is always better than getting. Since this is our first time to do this together, it will be the best Christmas ever!

'And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”' Acts 20:35 NLT

See the location here

There were 30 farming families in the village. No clinic, school or evangelical church was accessible to the community. The closest school was 3 kilometres away. Some of the homes had electricity and many had pumps to lift the water from their hand dug wells. The water in these wells was highly contaminated and caused serious illnesses throughout the community.

'Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.” “But sir, you don’t have a rope or a bucket,” she said, “and this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water? And besides, do you think you’re greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his animals enjoyed?” Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”'
